Becoming Aware of Tech Evolution

Okay so this is a topic that not enough people are aware of.  Look around you, do you see that phone you’re holding? Or the laptop you’re typing on? Have you ever thought about how you would be reading this information if we were back 100 years? Didn’t think so.

But who would?! Why does it matter?! Why do I care about the past?

Well okay I’ll make it simple. If this was 1917 you would not be reading this poorly written blog on a touch screen device, you would be using a Vogue catalog! JK… The point is that you would have been reading it on paper. Whether it would be a magazine, flyer, newspaper or book; but are you? No, because we as humans have evolved so quickly in the past 100 years to the point where we have eliminated the NEED for paper.

We might still use paper because some people have just not caught up with the times, or… they like the feel of a paper book etc. But the truth is that we have lost the NEED for many things and converted it to tech that fits in our pockets or stored in “the cloud”.

It’s really amazing. We have taken Phones, Phone Books, Computers, GPS, Games, Clocks, and all other sorts of things and have compressed it down to a singular device that can be carried around in your purse. We even have entire busnisses online like Amazon. AND it can be used anywhere wirelessly and weighs less than a half a pound.

Did I just blow your mind?

I hope not! Because this is the reality we live in. If you haven’t noticed, we are living in the midst of the technological evolution and every month there is a new advancement in the capabilities that our devices can do!

Do you remember the Jetsons? Well back in the 60’s when the show first aired the ability to Facetime was seen as science fiction, they used a form of communicating live through monitors back and forth which in turn is what we do today using our phones and tablets.

Everything up to this point in time had been manually done with tools and resources. It’s amazing how far we have come.

Nothing is the same.

In metropolitan cities around the world, we tend to have EVERYTHING instantly to the point where if someone wanted to live in their house forever and never come out, they pretty much could! We have integrated our lives with the technology around us to the point where I could instantly order anything with an app, pay for it, and have it delivered to my door within 2 hours. Amazon sells branded buttons that you can stick to the tissue box or pantry item of your choice and when you run out just press the button and you instantly buy it.

The idea of total comfort and convenience has arrived to the real world and yet most of us take it for granted. WE ARE LIVING IN THE BEGINNING STAGES OF THIS SO CALLED FUTURE!

From my perspective, I believe most people don’t realize how far we have come as the human race with our technology and how if we utilize our resources correctly we could potentially save the planet we live on. This planet we call home. Earth.

Raising a Child Vs Dog: Tweets to note

Early this morning as I was scrolling through twitter I saw a chain of Tweets that caught my attention. It was an old high school peer of mine who just so happened to have a son recently.

Her chain explains the difference between raising a child in comparison to raising dogs as your children like so many people here in California do.

As a dog owner myself and a mother of a two year old I did feel a bit embarrassed reading these tweets because I am guilty of calling my dog my “second daughter” when the reality is that raising them is a hell of a lot different.

These are the tweets and I couldn’t agree more!

  • You grow a child and share your body with them for 10 months, and then you push them out. (unlike dogs you can buy/adopt)
  • You teach a child to be independent. Teach them to live and think on their own because eventually they leave your home.
  • You teach your child to  distinguish colors shapes sounds and feelings. Even how to read and write! this take A LOT of time and effort.
  • You have to cook multiple meals for your child unlike a dog who has  pre-baught and packaged food.
  • The Cost alone is much much greater than a dog.
  • You don’t have to teach your dog how to wipe, brush their teeth, bathe on their own, how to dress themselves, etc..
  • Your child is going to contribute to society. How you raise them has a huge impact.
  • You can’t just leave your child at home like a pet.

Trend Power Transfer

Kendall and Kylie Jenner: best known for being the younger half sisters of the Kardashian’s.

If you where living under a rock for the past 10 years you might not know who they are, but most of us know exactly who these two young women are and might unknowingly have been following the trends set by the Kardashian effect. A world-wide phenomenon that successfully pushes advertising and marketing to mas consumers in an indirect way.

Yet in the past few months I have noticed a shift in the trends, focusing more on the two sisters than on the Kardashian’s themselves.

More and more millennials are hopping on the Jenner express and have started to mimic every outfit, makeup look and lifestyle choice these two women make, but why?

Well, age matters. 20 something year old’s are in control now. In every industry we are seeing younger and younger professionals. This means younger people are getting more money which in turns makes them valuable consumers. Consumers that brands LOVE to target. And who set the trends? Icons.

The time for the millennial take over is here and it seems to me like we have appointed our new style icons. Joining the Jenner’s in the game of influence are the Hadid sisters ( model friends of Kendall and Kylie) This group women is dominating social media and have grown to be sole inspirations for retailers everywhere constantly trying to mimic their aesthetic or pay them to be walking advertisements.

The effect is now changed. The baton has been passed down. The Jenner’s are responsible for the trends we all love (or pretend to love) and no matter how hard you try to escape it. The fashion cycle has a place for everyone.

What is my Family Tree?

Unlike many of the people in the world I unfortunately never got to meet my grandparents on my mom’s side. And the Grandparents I do have, on my dad’s side are much to old to remember anything about their youth.

Now most of you probably know that I’m of Mexican decent, and I’m a first generation American. This is all find and dandy but there comes a point in time where sometimes I wonder “what events in history had to happen in order for me to be alive today”.

  • I wonder about their physical traits, if I look like them
  • I wonder about their education and how far they came in life.
  • I wonder about their accomplishments and if their talents were passed down to me.
  • I wonder about so many things yet I have not even a clue what my family tree even looks like!

The crazy thing is that I know for sure my race is a mixture of many different countries though I only ever identify as Mexican. Yet for some reason I have a feeling that I am so much more than that.

I know that in my own life and accomplishments I’v made something of myself but I still long for the unknown. I long for the comfort of knowing the struggles and sacrifices made that lead up to me.

I would use the Ancestry Tree helper but it’s too much money for information that I should already know. Also most of the records they have are from US-based census and hospitals. Nothing truly international or accurate.

For now I guess I’m left wondering. For now i’ll just stand still with this and see where my future offspring end up.

Best of luck to my daughter, and her children, and their children and so on. I’ll be sure to leave a good record for them to find someday.

Do any of you know your family tree? And if so how many generations back? anything interesting you know about your family past?

Are you short tempered? Click here to find out.

Do you get angry many times in the day?  (more than once a day?)

You’ll forget halfway through an argument what you’re even arguing about, because you do it that often.

But you’ll carry on anyway, just to prove a point.

11 things you'll only know if you're a short-tempered person

People closest to you know to steer clear of you at certain times of the day. Like when you’ve just woken up. And before you’ve had lunch. And when you’re travelling home from work. And when you get home, because you’re tired from a long day.

Being proved wrong makes your blood boil. Yet proving someone wrong boosts your ego.

BELIEVING YOU KNOW something for a fact even if it makes no difference in the situation and can’t be proven. (for example fighting about what someone specifically said or did in the past) *only works if the action was not caught on tape or written at the time.

Bringing up an issue over and over again after others have started a different topic.

Thinking that EVERY little disagreement needs to be resolved.

Typos, mispronunciation, and misinformation can lead to you constantly correct people and ultimately  makes you look like a total dick all the time. IF YOU KNOW WHAT THEY MEANT TO SAY, LET IT GO! Your attempt at correcting and informing them to “make them not sound stupid” is going to piss anyone off, especially if its done multiple times in a conversation.

You are habitual to saying mean things when angry. Sign #7. You are habitual to saying mean things when angry.

All short-tempered people love to extend a small situation into a big one and make it as dramatic as possible. They get a sense of power when they feel they have hurt or made their “enemies” feel stupid/ wrong.

Believing others are the cause of their anger and expecting others to apologize for their aggressive behavior.

Getting upset when people don’t do as you say. The main thing to remember is that you can always suggest things but do not take it personally if the other person doesn’t do it. Just because you believe your way is the “right way” doesn’t mean you have the right to get angry or upset with them for choosing their own way.

Lashing out when you feel ignored is probably one of the bigger causes of anger. People with anger issues are more likely to have a bigger ego and when they aren’t heard or listened to they feel personally offended.

Expecting others to apologize to you when you get irrationally angry. (ultimately your harsh reaction is worse than the original offence the person did)

Realizing you got angry over something small many times a week and not doing anything about it.
